February Newsletter

Dear HRHF Supporters,

February is almost behind us, and with it comes the first real hints that spring is just around the corner. The days are getting longer, the sun feels a little warmer, and the horses are soaking up every bit of it. There's a quiet anticipation at the farm — an energy shift as we turn the page toward brighter days ahead.

February Highlight: Farm Happenings

Take a peek at what we've been up to at the farm:

  • Welcome to the volunteer team - We're thrilled to have Mackenzie and Sydney join our Thursday crew!

    • Mackenzie is a freshman at Fitchburg High with dreams of becoming a vet, she brings fresh energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for animals to the farm.

    • Sydney has a newfound love for horses and an eagerness to explore the incredible connection between people and animals.

  • Farm Tour - Spanish American Center joined us on a gorgeous Friday afternoon. We hosted 13 students and 7 staff for our biggest tour ever.

  • Barbara presented at an Ask CASA training for The CASA Project Worcester, sharing how High Ridge Harmony Farm supports youth through equine-assisted healing and nature-based programming.

Volunteer Spotlight - Karen Brighenti

Karen has been a sidewalker at HRHF for a couple years now, and she always brings the same chill energy to the farm. Karen is always ready to listen to participants, and has an overall calming presence. She is a Reiki practitioner which helps her to read the energy of those around her, helping the participants and horses to relax. No matter rain, shine, cold, or bug season, Karen is always prepared and ready to be a sidewalker. Karen tends to work with Olive the most, and she has learned to read and adjust to Olive’s mood each session. Karen is a very important member of the HRHF team, and continues to make a difference at the farm!

Moments That Matter   Binx's Story: Healing Through Community

Binx arrived at the farm in 2022 struggling to walk after foundering from neglect. Over the past three years, an incredible team—our farrier, massage therapist, volunteers, and participants—has worked together to help him heal, trust again, and feel loved.

His journey reminds us that healing takes time, patience, and a community willing to show up. Read the full story here!
