January Newsletter

Dear HRHF Supporters,

As we step into 2026 and celebrate the Year of the Horse, there's a special energy at the farm. The crisp winter air and quiet beauty of the season invite us to slow down, reflect, and connect more deeply - with ourselves, each other, and of course, our incredible herd. This month, we're embracing the work we love while honoring the wisdom and healing our horses bring every day. In this newsletter, we highlight what's been happening, shine a spotlight on one of our dedicated volunteers, and share a very special "Moments that Matter" story that reminds us why this work is so important. January is a time to continue the meaningful work ahead with renewed energy - let's make 2026 extraordinary together.

 January Highlight: Farm Happenings

Take a peek at what we've been up to at the farm:

  • Welcome to the volunteer team - We're thrilled to have Kayla join our Saturday crew, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to the farm.

  • Growing our community - Five new participants joined us this month, and we're looking forward to the journey ahead as they connect with our horses and community.

  • Grant success - We're honored to receive funding from The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, helping us expand access to our programs and serve more people in our community.

 Volunteer Spotlight - Katia Naples

This month we're spotlighting one of our newer volunteers - Katia! Katia joined the team as a barn helper, and learned to clean stalls, fill hay nets, and fill water buckets. Soon after becoming part of the barn crew, she joined the sessions as a sidewalker. Katia is a natural at working with participants, specifically young kids. Her awareness of the people and horses around her gives us important insight and helps us make the best plan for each session. She is enthusiastic and happy to complete any task, whether it be cleaning up the barn, helping run a session, or evaluating Binx. Katia is always excited to learn, and continues to be an incredible addition to the farm family!

Moments That Matter  - Kristine Wolanske

Kristine's journey at High Ridge Harmony Farm is a beautiful reminder that growth happens in quiet, unexpected ways. What began as a volunteer role centered on people slowly unfolded into a deeper connection with the horses, as curiosity replaced fear and confidence took root. Kristine stepped beyond her comfort zone and discovered she was capable of far more than she imagined. Read the full story here!

 Making a Difference Together

We're incredibly honored to receive funding from The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts! For over 25 years, they've been supporting health initiatives across Central Mass, and we're thrilled to be part of their mission to improve community wellness. Their commitment to addressing community health needs aligns perfectly with our work, and this funding helps us remove financial barriers so more people can access the therapeutic benefits of working with our horses.
