Dear HRHF Supporters,
November has swept through the farm with shorter days and the crisp cold settling in around us. As darkness arrives earlier each evening and the chill deepens, we're embracing the cozy warmth of community and connection. From heartwarming programs that brighten these darker days to our Volunteer Spotlight and a "Moments that Matter" story that truly touched our hearts, this month is full of gratitude and meaningful moments to celebrate together.
🌞 November Highlight: Farm Happenings
Here’s a look at some of the wonderful things that happened around the farm:
UWNCM Food Drive – A huge thank you to the wonderful members of our community who donated to help our neighbors struggling with food insecurity. Your generosity made a real difference!
First Congregational Church Volunteer Day – We're grateful to the members of First Congregational Church who spent their Sunday morning helping prep the farm for winter! From picking apples and raking leaves to crafting and decorating the barn, their hands and hearts made the day truly special.
We hosted a tour for a representative of The ARC and one of their clients to share what we do. We're looking forward to working closely with them in the coming months to prepare a program for this spring!
Two of our favorite care team members came to visit this month! Justin Burdick trimmed hooves and Shannon Luongo gave some well-deserved massages. The herd is feeling pampered and ready for winter!
We had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Foss, his team, and students from John R. Briggs Elementary School for a field trip! It was wonderful watching these curious young visitors make friends with Birdhouse Billy, our gnomes, and the herd.
Grace and Emmy Go Viral! – A social media post featuring Grace and Emmy's training has reached over 2.1 million people! When people learn about us and see the work we do, they see hope—and that's the kind of awareness that changes lives.
🌞 Volunteer Spotlight - Sarah Anderson
Sarah has been volunteering at the farm for 1 year, and also volunteered during summer camp this past year. Her calming presence and sweet personality make a perfect addition to our team. Sarah’s love for horses and the farm is shown by her connections with each horse. Emmy in particular has a special connection with Sarah and you can often see them together during sessions. HRHF is lucky to have Sarah as part of the team!
✨ Moments That Matter ✨
Jack and Sawyer – This month's spotlight features two incredible participants who have grown by leaps and bounds during our fall sessions. From learning to lead and groom to mastering new skills with confidence and curiosity, Jack and Sawyer's journey is one of teamwork, progress, and quiet determination. Read their full story here!
🌟 Making a Difference Together 🌟
We're thrilled to announce that UWNCM awarded us funding to launch a middle school after-school program for the 2025-26 school year! This partnership allows us to reach more young people during a critical time in their development. We appreciate UWNCM for believing in our mission and investing in the youth of our community!
A huge thank you to DCU for Kids for making our youth summer camp program possible this year! Their generous funding helped us launch this new offering, allowing young campers to experience the joy and healing that comes from spending time in nature and with our herd. It is great that we have the support of DCU for Kids to help us expand our programs and reach more children!
